University of Medicine Presents Modern Pharmaceutical Laboratory: A Step Towards Scientific Advancement and Interinstitutional Cooperation

At the University of Medicine, Tirana, the presentation of the project “Research Infrastructure of Pharmaceutical Laboratories” took place, a strategic initiative aiming to establish a modern laboratory within the Department of Pharmacy. ngritjen e një laboratori modern brenda Departamentit të Farmacisë.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Education and Sports, Ms. Ogerta Manastirliu, Ms. Linda Pustina, Director General of the National Agency for Cannabis Control, as well as Ms. Mirela Muça, Director General of the National Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation. Assoc. Prof. Entela Haloci, project leader and lecturer at the Department of Pharmacy, gave a concise presentation of the project's objectives and main phases, highlighting the role of the new laboratory in supporting scientific research and practical education. All institutional representatives expressed their support for this project, which aims to advance the country’s research infrastructure.

In his welcoming speech, the Rector of the University of Medicine, Tirana, Prof. Dr. Xheladin Draçini, emphasized the strategic importance of this project for the future of scientific research and university education in the pharmaceutical field. He highlighted that the establishment of this modern laboratory is a concrete step toward fulfilling the university’s mission to contribute with knowledge, innovation, and quality services in support of public health and the country’s scientific development.

The new laboratory will aim for accreditation according to the international ISO 17025 standard, integrating advanced technology for the purposes of scientific research, practical education of students, and collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry.

This interinstitutional collaboration represents an important step toward positioning Albania on the European map of pharmaceutical research and services.

The presentation was moderated by journalist Freskida Miloti, who professionally highlighted the role of this project in strengthening the link between scientific research, quality education, and the development of the pharmaceutical sector in the country.
