The Library of the University of Medicine, Tirana (UMT) is a core academic and scientific center of central importance in the functioning of the university, directly supporting the teaching, learning and research process in the fields of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing and other healthcare sciences.

With a combined classical and digital structure, it offers integrated access to high-standard information resources. Physically located near the main faculty buildings, it offers a modern environment, equipped with rich literature and contemporary electronic resources.

The mission of the Medical Library is to provide fast, accurate and comprehensive access to scientific resources and the latest information in the field of medicine, in order to support quality education, scientific research and clinical practice. To ensure equal access to reliable and updated information for students, lecturers and researchers in support of quality education and scientific research. To provide training in the use of bibliographic tools and management software. To create partnerships and collaborations with international libraries and institutions.

The Academic Library of the University of Medicine, Tirana is the documentation and information center for all constituent units of the university. It serves as a fundamental support for the teaching process in the Bachelor, Master and Doctorate cycles, offering specialized materials for all study programs.

Rich collection of basic and advanced university textbooks in the fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, public health and medical technical sciences.
Reference fund with dictionaries, atlases, clinical manuals, encyclopedias and specialized literature.
National and international scientific journals and periodicals.

Diploma and dissertation topics for the student-academic environment of UMT (bachelor, master, doctorate).
Electronic resources (digital books, scientific articles, research papers, etc.).

Library Organization in Classes

Reading Hall, (open fund)
The main space where students can read in peace. Equipped with tables, chairs and suitable lighting, assisted by staff.. Reference corner reserved for specialized literature such as medical dictionaries, encyclopedias, anatomical atlases, etc..

 Computer / Electronic Access Room
Equipped with computers to use electronic resources such as scientific databases (PubMed, Hinari, Cobiss, U-Library, etc.). There is stable internet and access to the library's online catalog. The room is equipped with all the necessary electronic accessories in the service of online scientific research.

Borrowing Room
Space where user registration and borrowing of materials are done. There is specialized staff for assistance and bibliographic orientation.

Closed Hall Archives / Old Fund
A hall where: old books, dissertations, publications, newsletters, scientific journals and historical materials are located. Stored in special conditions to guarantee conservation. Systematic lending service for internal users of UMT.

The academic library maintains the traditional function of the classical library, with a special focus on preserving and updating the physical fund of materials, as well as on promoting the culture of academic reading.

The UMT Electronic Library is a digital gateway for access to modern scientific literature and electronic information resources of international standards. It is a complementary structure to the physical library, but it serves independently to meet the contemporary needs of scientific researchers and students.

• The Up To Data platform provides accessible information on medical practices and treatments. It is used to obtain clinical guidelines from the broad community of doctors and specialists. It provides updated information regarding diagnoses, treatments and medical guidelines.

Participation in the European Association for Health Information and Libraries (EAHIL)..
