Board of Administration of the University of Medicine, Tirana
The Board of Administration is a collegial decision-making body that supervises and controls the administrative, financial and economic activities of the University of Medicine, Tirana (UMT). It guarantees the protection of the institution's public property rights and informs the Academic Senate and the Rector on the financial situation and relevant projects.
Composition and Mandate
The Board of Administration consists of 7 members: • 3 members selected by the UMT Academic Senate with a 5-year mandate and the right to re-election, who must have at least the scientific degree "Doctor". • 4 members appointed by the Ministry of Education and Sports.
The mandate of members ends in the event of: • Expiration of term or resignation, • Termination of the relationship with UMT, • Serious legal violations or unjustified absence in 6 consecutive sessions, • Change of representation ratios on the Board, • Conviction by final court decision.
Vacancies are filled according to the order in the list of candidates proposed by UMT and voted on by the Academic Senate. Members appointed by the Ministry of Education and Sports can only be dismissed by this institution.
Functioning and Competencies
• Board Members must not have legal obstacles to employment in the state administration or conflicts of interest. • The remuneration of members is determined in the UMT budget and the fees for participation in meetings are determined by decision of the Council of Ministers. • The Board's expenses are incurred by the Chancellor by order of the Chairman of the Board.
