Board of Administration

Board of Administration of the University of Medicine, Tirana

The Board of Administration is a collegiate decision-making body that oversees and controls the administrative, financial, and economic activities of the University of Medicine, Tirana (UMT). It ensures the protection of the public property rights of the institution and informs the Academic Senate and the Rector about the financial situation and relevant projects.

Composition and Mandate

The Board of Administration consists of 7 members:
3 members selected by the Academic Senate of UMT for a 5-year term with the right to re-election, who must hold at least the academic title of "Doctor."
4 members appointed by the Ministry of Education and Sports.

The mandate of the members ends in the event of:
• Expiration of the term or resignation,
• Termination of the relationship with UMT,
• Serious legal violations or unjustified absence from 6 consecutive meetings,
• Change in the representation reports within the Board,
• Conviction by a final judicial decision.

Vacancies are filled according to the ranking on the list of candidates proposed by UMT and voted by the Academic Senate. Members appointed by the Ministry of Education and Sports can only be dismissed by this institution.

Functioning and Competencies

• Board members must not have legal barriers to employment in the state administration or conflicts of interest.
• Compensation for members is defined in the UMT budget, and participation fees in meetings are set by a decision of the Council of Ministers.
• The expenses of the Board are managed by the Chancellor under the order of the Chairman of the Board.
