The establishment of the Faculty of Medicine dates back to 1952, with the creation of the Higher Medical Institute, the first higher education institution in the field of medicine in Albania. This institute was created in response to the great need for doctors and qualified health personnel in the country, at a time when the lack of specialists posed a serious challenge for the Albanian healthcare system.
Në vitin 1957, me themelimin e Universitetit të Tiranës, Instituti i Lartë Mjekësor u shndërrua në Fakultetin e Mjekësisë, një nga gjashtë fakultetet themeluese të universitetit. Në vitin 2013 Fakulteti i Mjekësisë bëhet pjesë e Universitetit të Mjekësisë, Tiranë.
With decades of experience and collaborations with international and national institutions, the Faculty of Medicine has made an important contribution to the education and specialization of generations of health professionals, influencing the healthcare service at the national level.
