The University of Medicine, Tirana (UMT) offers third-cycle “Doctorate” studies programs, with the aim of preparing qualified professionals and researchers at the highest levels of medical sciences. These programs are oriented towards advancing scientific knowledge, professional development and supporting innovation in the relevant fields.

In the context of internationalization and improving academic quality, UMT has established cooperation with the University of Bologna in Italy, offering 3 joint doctoral programs in the fields of internal medicine, surgery and obstetrics-gynecology. These international programs offer students the opportunity to benefit from the academic and scientific expertise of two prestigious institutions.

The publication of doctoral dissertations is a legal obligation, in accordance with the legal framework in force for higher education and scientific research in Albania. Every candidate who successfully completes their doctoral studies is required to publish their dissertation on the official platform of the University and in the National Library, to guarantee transparency, public access and the assessment of the scientific contribution. This process also ensures academic integrity and serves as a reference source for other researchers in the relevant fields.
