The history of the Faculty of Dental Medicine begins with the establishment of the Department of Dentistry in 1959. The Department of Dentistry was established at the Faculty of Medicine and was represented by three internal lecturers: Dr. Dhori Pojani, Dr. Osman Hoxha and Dr. Dhimitra Lira and two external lecturers: Dr. Xhevdet Asllani and Dr. Skender Topulli. This teaching staff was the first initiator of dental studies in the Republic of Albania.
In 1964, the Department of Dentistry was organized into three main departments: Department of Dental Therapy, Department of Dental Surgery and Department of Dental Orthopedics
