Florence Nightingale is recognized as the founder of modern nursing, transforming this profession into an art that requires special skills. In Albania, the development of nursing began on December 30, 1921, when the Albanian Red Cross founded the School of Nurses in Tirana. Later, technical schools and schools for nurses were opened, offering training in preventive medicine and hygiene.
